Coconut Oil Is Your Ally After All

At Genesis Gym, we strongly recommend coconut oil to our Personal training and boot camp clients. Many wonder why we recommend coconut oil and worry about the effects it will have on them.

In the 1960s and 1970s, some research that showed some forms of saturated fat increase blood cholesterol and as a result, saturated fat was deemed unsafe. However, at that point of time, there was no differentiation between saturated fat and trans fat as they were all under one classification. People generally understand trans fat is bad for their health, but not many understand the benefits of coconut oil – a saturated fat.

The benefits of coconut oil are listed below:

• Antibacterial and Antimicrobial
• Increases Lauric acid in breast milk
• Increase in energy
• Detoxification
• Antioxidant
• Digestion
• Aids in regulating body functions
• Strengthens Immune system

Pure coconut oil (not hydrogenated or fractioned coconut oil) may increase your cholesterol. Its doesn’t mean it’s a bad sign, as pure coconut oil helps improve the ratio of Good HDL (high density lipoproteins) to Bad LDL (low density lipoproteins) which reduces one’s risk of heart disease.

Coconut oil is recommended as oil to be used for cooking and many wonder why. Coconut oil is chemically stable and highly resistant to the oxidation and rancidity process that other types of oil undergo in high temperatures, light and air.

Coconut oil, a MCFA (medium chain fatty acid), is smaller in molecule size and doesn’t require much aid in digestion. The MCFA penetrates mitochondria in cells and provides the body with energy. Unlike other oils, coconut oil is absorbed into the liver and burned as fuel for the body, thereby acting as a fat loss supplement.

Therefore, have yourself some coconut oil. You will get healthier and leaner!
